Growth Througout my Masters
In my youth, I learned working in workshops and be creative with different materials. Within my Bachelor's I often relied on the knowledge and skills I already had, and preferred the older-fashioned approaches to prototyping. It was not before my Master's that I explored the world of 3D-modelling, 3D-printing (incl. 3DFP), Lasercutting and other types of prototyping to ensure the quality of outcome expected in the Master's program. While I started off being a complete rookie, I could say that I was able to learn the basics to end up with satisfactory results. Furthermore, my preference was to design physical models, and avoided web/application designing in general. Within my Master's third project, I could design a fully digital application with an aesthetically pleasing and colourful result, which was made to fit within the youth care environment. Furthermore, I was able to learn creating my own sketches, rather than having to depend on online icons to explain the functionality of my product, something I was less skilled in before.
Explicit implementation in FMP
While both the designs from project 2 and 3 could do the trick within the context of the project, I was unsatisfied with the quality of the products, and even received feedback during my assessments around the prototype quality. The goal of my Final Master Project, thus, was to show an improvement in my skills and level of refinement concerning this quality. Exploring new techniques and connecting with an expert in the field of prototyping to learn more about the realisation of a product.
